Talk about a home run!

The annual Travis Roy Whiffle Ball Tournament, held last weekend in Essex, Vt., raised more than $500,000 — its second-highest collection — for spinal cord research.

The proceeds will go to the Travis Roy Foundation, which benefits and creates awareness for people with spinal cord injuries, according to the Associated Press.

The tournament was held in Essex, Vt., residents Pat and Beth O’Connor’s three backyard fields.

All told, it has raised more than $4.6 million in its 16-year run. Wow!
