No, I am not making this up.

The Associated Press reported on Tuesday that a mall Santa known for allowing “goofy poses” with children has been asked to cut back on the antics, much to the public’s chagrin.

Scott Diethorne, who has “naughty” and “nice” tattooed on his forearms, has earned a bit of a rep for producing silly holiday photos, where he shows off his two tattoos while children hang upside-down instead of sitting straight and smiling for the camera. This Christmas, though, he’s been warned that such photos are off limits, and only traditional poses — like the standard sit and smile — will be allowed.

Cherry Hill Programs, which runs the mall, says they’re “dedicated to preserving the tradition and image of Santa.”

You can’t write this, y’all.

The new rules aren’t discouraging Diethorne’s loyal fans, though — they’re still lining up for photos.
