Woodstock Fire/EMS thinks that may very well be the case! Check out their post from Saturday.

Woodstock Fire department responds to structure fire in an artist studio on Church Hill Road in Woodstock.

Upon arrival of the Chief and the first due engine, firefighters found a smoldering fire contained to a table and the flooring underneath it. Crews extinguished the hot spots and overhauled the building with minimal damage to the structure.

The studio owner was not using the space at the time. While the official cause of the fire is undetermined, it appears the fire was started by a lamp that contained a magnifying lenses for close up work that was in line with a window that sun had passed by. The lense was positioned over alcohol based paints and other craft supply’s.

Mutual aid from Bridgewater and South Woodstock also responded.
