Set your alarms, folks: The famed Five Colleges Book Sale is happening tomorrow!
No idea what I’m talking about? Don’t worry, I’ll fill you in.
WHAT: The Five Colleges Book Sale is an annual, volunteer-run book sale whose proceeds benefit students attending, you guessed it, five colleges — Mount Holyoke, Simmons, Smith, Vassar and Wellesley. About 35,000-40,000 items — new and previously enjoyed books, CDs, DVDs, prints and more — will be available for purchase.
WHEN: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday (all items half price)
WHERE: Lebanon High School gymnasium, Lebanon
DETAILS: They’ll take plastic this year! (Win!!)
This is a big event (literally) and organizers and volunteers have been preparing for weeks. I personally have had it marked on my calendar since at least the beginning of the month. (As Lady Gaga famously sang, some of us just like to read.)
Hardcore patrons have been known to start lining up nearly two hours before the doors open, but I have it on good authority that even if you aren’t first in line, there are still plenty of treasures to be had. (The sale also is just as good on Sunday, too, according to sources.) I planned to go last year, but ended up having to go out for the weekend. I was bummed I missed it, and I ended up envious of my co-workers when I heard about all the cool stuff they’d snagged. Not again!
Will you be attending?
