The New York Times reported on Wednesday that New England Patriots player Julian Edelman’s quick actions may have averted a potential school shooting.
The wide receiver responded immediately after receiving a direct message on Instagram alerting him to a comment on one of his posts threatening a school shooting. Edelman called his assistant, who called police.
The post was traced back to a 14-year-old in Michigan who admitted to police that he posted the threat. Two rifles that belonged to the boy’s mother were found as well, police said.
