I’m not the only one who noticed the helicopter — which seemed to be flying at relatively low altitudes while circling White River Junction after dark — on May 1.
When it happened again last night, my curiosity got the better of me. That’s two Tuesday nights in a row!
So I called up Braxton Freeman, Midwest Air Traffic’s manager at the air traffic control tower in Lebanon, this afternoon to figure out what’s up.
Braxton did a little research and found that it was an Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk doing some touch-and-goes — i.e. training drills — from Lebanon airport’s Runway 25.
“They might have been doing some night vision training,” Braxton said.
He isn’t sure if this will continue for the next few Tuesday nights; the Army Guard basically shows up when the training is needed.
