During the small earthquake that hit the White River Junction/Quechee area last night and sent rumbles throughout the Upper Valley, there were a few themes among the prevailing reactions.

  • Longtime Upper Valley residents were like, “winter!” and thought their furnaces exploded or snow was falling off their roof.
  • Dogs were having certified freak-outs.
  • California transplants were … unimpressed.

Earthquake? Something just went bump in the night in the Upper Valley

It was the week before Christmas
And all through the house
Not a creature was stirring …
UNTIL SOMETHING SHOOK A BUNCH OF HOUSES IN THE UPPER VALLEY AND AT FIRST I THOUGHT MY FURNACE HECKIN’ EXPLODED UNTIL I SAW A BUNCH OF PEOPLE ON FACEBOOK TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT ON EARTH JUST HAPPENED!!!!

Same, friends. Same. The biggest comment chain happened on this other thread, where people reported feeling it all. over. the. place.

Well, thanks to intrepid Valley News night editor Jeralyn Darling, we have an answer!
