Happy summer, y’all!

At last, summer is here in all its glory. Rejoice! We have survived the long winter and barely-there spring.
Today marks the first official day of summer, which means it’s a great day to treat yo’self to an ice cream cone (from Dairy Twirl, Ice Cream Fore-U, 2 Guys Pies, Dan & Whit’s, or, most recently, The Baited Hook Restaurant), sit outside and enjoy the beautiful sunshine, or take in a Nighthawks game (they’re hosting the Keene Swampbats at 6:30 p.m. Educators get in free tonight with a valid ID and, oh, there will be FREE COOKIES)!

Ice cream window roundup for Hartford, Norwich, Lebanon and Hanover

Roll call, everybody.

We’ve been keeping you posted on the ice cream windows opening for the season in the Upper Valley’s core four towns. So far we’ve let you know about Ice-Cream Fore U, Dairy Twirl, Dan & Whit’s, and now, 2 Guys Pies (personally verified).

I just want to make sure we aren’t missing any … Let us know!

CONFIRMED: Spring is officially here.

Dairy Twirl, my favorite ice cream place in the Upper Valley (shhh, don’t tell the others), has announced it will open for the 2018 season on Friday, May 4. Rejoice!

Everyone knows Dairy Twirl is the last ice cream holdout and that its owners don’t open until it’s definitely spring, so here’s the confirmation that spring has officially sprung.

It’s ice cream Christmas, y’all

I just made that term up, but it feels right, because the ice cream window at Fore-U is opening at 11 this morning*, and even though it’s feeling a little dreary out, I trust the Fore-U folks a lot more than Punxsutawney Phil to tell me when winter is finally over!

(*That’s according to an email sent out by Ice Cream Fore-U this morning! The window will be open daily from 11 a.m.-9 p.m., according to the message.)

According to our records, today’s opening is one day earlier than last year, when Fore-U opened on March 31. So, there’s that.

Also, here’s a video I made last year, which holds up pretty well and which I should probably just re-publish every spring:

Due to the proximity of the newsroom, the Fore-U ice cream window is No. 1 on my radar. Do you know of any other Upper Valley ice cream windows that are opening already?

Let me know!
