Forget Despacito. (JK, still loving it, even though summer is over and it’s officially sweater weather).
In all honesty, though, J. Balvin and Willy Williams’ Mi Gente was a serious threat to Despacito even when that song was at its peak, before Taylor Swift came to retake her No. 1 spot with Look What You Made Me Do. MORE IMPORTANTLY, THOUGH, she’s championing a larger humanitarian effort: Her proceeds from the purchase of the remix will benefit hurricane relief charities serving Puerto Rico, Mexico and the Caribbean. She announced her contribution in an Instagram post.
A true legend is celebrating a milestone birthday.
Katherine Johnson, one of the female mathematicians who was critical to many NASA operations, is 99 today.
Her story recently was played out on the silver screen in the movie Hidden Figures, which is based on the nonfiction book by the same name. Johnson was portrayed by actress Taraji P. Henson in the film.
Total Eclipse of the Heart singer Bonnie Tyler will perform her most-famous song on Monday during the solar eclipse. She will sing the song (which is iconic, tbh) at sea, aboard a Royal Caribbean ship, according to Buzzfeed News.
I’ve always said I’ll know I’ve met my soulmate when I find someone who willingly sings the Bright Eyes parts while I do my best Tyler impression. This song is a timeless classic.
Try to watch the eclipse on Monday without hearing this song in your head, I dare you. Or just watch the original music video above and try not to belt it out.
